'Mario Golf: Super Rush' brings the putting green to your living room
I say nostalgic, because I grew up playing golf with my dad, who passed away from ALS in 2020 and was unable to play the sport in his final years. In his spare time, you could catch him practicing his swings with an imaginary club. In the second grade, I even made him a clay golf ball to put his pencils in. As I played "Mario Golf," I couldn't help but imagine how he would've reacted to seeing a video game that's all about his favorite hobby -- with a Mario twist.

'Mario Golf: Super Rush' revives a nostalgic sports title with motion controls
In "Super Rush," players who crave a good story can try Golf Adventure mode, where they start off in Camp House, which is the birthplace of golf in the Mushroom Kingdom. They play as a Mii character they customize (unfortunately playing as the iconic Mario is not an option). Birdo, a pink dinosaur-like character from the Mario games, is the Camp House mama, and players will need to talk to her to get situated. Golf Adventure is littered with mysterious characters standing around that the player can talk to, and some who will become important to the story later on. Wario and Waluigi are also present.
Nintendo shows off 'Mario Golf: Super Rush' speed golf and battle royale modes
Ahead of releasing Mario Golf: Super Rush next month, Nintendo has revealed a bit more about what to expect from the game, including the speed golf mode. You and up to four friends will play at the same time. Not only will you try to complete a hole with fewer shots than your opponents, you'll want to do so faster than them as well. You'll need to sprint to where your ball has landed to take your next shot. There will be pickups on the course, including coins and ones that restore stamina.
